I'm still trying to get the hang of it. It's an old piece that no one has heard. This is the piece that the YSO played this year. Sadly it is not that recording, It is my computer program, but still sounds pretty good.

In case your wondering "didn't he already write a piece called Epic Times" You would be right I did. So this would be the new and improved version that is really not a whole lot like the origional. I was only going to do minor changes so that our orchestra could actually play it. But they turned into major changes.

But enough of that just listen........ If there is anyone left to listen that is...

Grace in Christ

Joshua

Something radical?

This would be my thoughts in the last little while as I have been greatly annoyed by what I see going on in the world around us. What does it mean to trust in God and why. Well in order to be able to trust him I believe that we need to start with his sovereignty.

God is good, he is totally in control of every situation. Not only does he know the future he has also planned it out to the last, so as to get the most glory for himself (Rom9:14-21)And to display his attributes of love and mercy he has chosen to save sinners. Not for anything that they themselves did, but so that his glory could be revealed to the world by saving those who would have nothing to do with him, for his glory.

Rom 9:22 But what if God, willing to demonstrate his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience the objects of wrath prepared for destruction?
Rom 9:23 And what if he is willing to make known the wealth of his glory on the objects of mercy that he has prepared beforehand for glory —
Rom 9:24 even us, whom he has called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?

Are we going to be worried then about what the future may hold? Is God in control or is he not. Do you not believe that God works all things together for the sake of those who believe(rom8:28) or do you think that God is sitting by hoping that man will not wreck what he has started. No! he will complete the good work he has started in us. Not because we are so good but because he is so faithful and he will not loose any of those who the father has given him (John10:17) why then do we worry about the future if God is totally in control of all that happens, and he is orchestrating everything for our good and his glory, what is there to fear? It is not as if he hasn’t made it clear that those who desire to live for him will suffer (2tim3:12) he has told us that not only is it likely to happen but that it will. As those who do the things that Christ commands, out of love for the savior will suffer persecution. And what a glorious thing it is to be counted worthy to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ! He is the image of the invisible God the one in whom is no turning or change. When will we learn to trust that he will be doing the best thing for us even when it is the hardest thing we have ever had to endure.

What a merciful savior, what a joy is ours. When he returns in the sky we will rejoice with joy inexpressible. Because the one who has purchased us with a price has returned to draw us all to himself.

Be of good cheer then when trials come knowing that the trials will produce endurance and we will be able to persevere. When hard times come you will be able to stand fast having the knowledge that he who died in your place has your best interests in mind. And is only allowing things to happen to you because he knows it is ultimately for your good.

How depressing it would be when the hard times come ( and they will) you, having all these years though that God was there to keep you from pain and suffering, does not relive that pain, and does not stop death, war, hunger, what then has he been unfaithful? Or perhaps he was unable to stop these things from coming to pass. Maybe his power was diminished for a season. What then? Could a God like this even keep you from hell? I would think not. For if he is not even able to keep his child from falling how is then able to save them from the pit of hell……

But that is not our God. The God of reality is so much more that even through the trials he is able to use even these for our good. Knowing that we are only human however he will not give us more than what we can bear. This is what it means to trust, that even through pain and suffering and trials beyond imagination God will remain faithful and he will give you the strength to endure.

This is what true trust is……because the hard times will come. So learn to trust him before they come so that you will be an effective witness for him when they do.

"This is God's universal purpose for all Christian suffering: more contentment in God and less satisfaction in the world." John Piper

"Since God is the highest good, He would not allow any evil to exist in his works unless his omnipotence and goodness were such as to bring good even out of evil." Augustine

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,
Rom 8:29 because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Rom 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.
Rom 8:31 What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Rom 8:32 Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?
Rom 8:33 Who will bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies.
Rom 8:34 Who is the one who will condemn? Christ is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us.
Rom 8:35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
Rom 8:36 As it is written, "For your sake we encounter death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
Rom 8:37 No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us!
Rom 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor heavenly rulers, nor things that are present, nor things to come, nor powers,
Rom 8:39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

"All our infirmities, whatever they are, are just opportunities for God to display His gracious work in us." CH Spurgeon

This is totally unrelated but good......
Life
Imagine the potential

Is this thing dead?

Ok well I am alive just so you all know (not that anyone actually comes here anymore)

This year has perhaps been one of the most changing years of my life. Why? Well as i ponder that I can only come up with one thing. The Gospel, this year like never before I have come to grips with the significance of The Gospel. Your all saying "your were raised in a Christian home you know what the Gospel is" which is true. I knew that Jesus died for me and that I was a sinner. But what does that really mean......

What does it mean to be a sinner........to be a sinner means that you have sinned against God. The ruler of the universe. The all powerful one, Lord Jehovah, creator. The one in who has the right to say "I Am" He is so much higher than us that our minds can't even begin to comprehend who he is. You and I have sinned against this God. And not just once, but countless times. How often do we fail to give him first place in our lives. How many times have we taken a breath without proper thanks. How often even in our "good works" have we sought to gain glory for ourselves. We are like people who drink down sin as if it was water.

Do we ever think how much God must hate it when we worry. We may think it a small thing, but in reality we are denying (by our actions) the very nature of God. God is all knowing, all powerful, always has our best interests in mind. He loves us infinitely more than our parents and we don't trust that he knows what he's doing. What a slap in Gods face. Yet..........We still live. Why don't we see these things for what they are. It is because we don't understand who God truly is.

Sin is so destructive and without a proper knowledge of God we will not see our sin. But it works both ways, with a knowledge of sin comes a knowledge of God. That is why Paul says In 1Tim 1:15 "I am the worst of sinners!"Why would he say this? Paul was perhaps one of the holiest men around, yet he considered himself the worst of sinners? It is because he saw his sin in for what it truly was in contrast to Gods holiness. It is not a little thing to sin against God. By sinning once Adam and Eve brought the curse of death over the entire human race. How much more are our multitudes of sins going to bring about judgment on that great day.

Now all of this becomes very scary if you don't know the rest of the story. But we do, Jesus who was God, became flesh and lived a perfect life. He died on our behalf. Taking the wrath that God was going to pour out on us, and instead pouring it out on his son. Your eternity in hell. Christ took your penalty. This isn't just a slap on the wrist. This is God pouring out his righteous holy wrath on his own son for you. Do you realize what he did! If you think that your not really that bad of a person think again. The son of God suffered God the Fathers Wrath, In your place! your sin was so serious that God's own son alone could atone for it. And guess what It's free.......This is where every other religious system has it wrong. They say "but it can't be free, How could God let of sinners without requiring them to do something to atone for there sin. And besides if it's by grace alone (Eph2:8) then we'll just except it and then keep on sinning" If that is the case then you don't understand Christ's work on the cross and you are lost and damned to hell for eternity. Harsh words I know, but they are true. How could anyone in there right mind after seeing there sin for what it is, in contrast to a holy God. Want to keep wallowing in it.

This my friends is the beauty of the Gospel. That foul wretched stinking heathens who hate God and will have nothing to do with him(Rom3:10-17,Isiah 64:6,Rom1:28-30,Rom3:23), can be changed into people with a love and passion and a desire to serve him because of what he has done for them. And are willing to give there lives for his sake because they know what they have been saved from. There just punishment, which is eternity in hell.

So these days as I am seeing my sin more and more. I am so much more aware of Christ's sacrifice for me. And when I see what he has done for me I want to shout it from the roof tops. And I have a desire to keep his commandments. But since I am human I fail. But I know that I can keep coming back to the savior because he bore my sins to Calvary. And I love him more and more every time I think about what I was before God and how just he would have been in sending me to hell forever. But by his grace he gave me life Oh how great is our God.

Don't ever forget what he has done people, and stop minimizing your sins. See yourself as what you really were before God. Without the work of Jesus paying your fine.

For this reason I kneel before the Father,
fromwhom every family in heaven and on the earth is named.
I pray that according to the wealth of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person,
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love,
you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and thus to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
Now to him who by the power that is working within us is able to do far beyond all that we ask or think,
to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Eph3:14-21

So as Everyone seems to be saying these days :)

And until tomorrow, Go serve your King........
Thanks for reading..........

Joshua Denhollander

Epic Time?

Ok It's been a while, but Since late is better than never I am posting something.

I wrote this piece yesterday in about four hours, Its kinda long and
maybe a bit repetitive, but you can decide that for yourselves. I was
fooling around with the orchestra sounds quite a bit in an effort to
make them sound better, Not sure if I succeeded. Some times there's a
bit to much to much echo and stuff like that, but you'll live. Anyways
please listen and comment and all that good stuff.

It took about three hours..............yup if you could comment that would be appreciated.

Oh and Daniel I hate to admite it but I think the music you wrote for "reluctant witness" might have inspired the end part of this piece. Of course It was more like a inspired bye but better than kinda thing:)

So this is my latest endevour to create some music.

I though that instead of just writting a piece of music, I might as well write it for something, and what could be better than the Prince Caspian trailer. So as always please listen and comment.

Prince Caspian trailer

Joshua Denhollander

Friday, December 21, 2007

Well I just had to post this please comment and tell me what you think.

Joshua Denhollander
So this is it. year I had all kinds of peice's started but none finished. So I decided
to figure out what I wanted before I started writing and this is what I
got.

If you think you hear stuff from different
soundtracks it's probable cause you do. I think theres one part
especially that sounds like the Gods and Generals sound track. But
hey two years ago someone ripped of Bethovens 5th:)

I started this piece on the piano which helped to
get some of the chord progressions a bit smoother. And I hope it's
simple enough. most of the melody in the strings that sort of thing.

Just listen and comment and please give me some ideas for a name, I'm really bad for picking names if you hadn't
figured that out already.
